Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of hybrid work models on employee performance by considering the mediating role of work engagement. This study is applied in purpose and quantitative in nature, using a descriptive–correlational and cross-sectional design. The statistical population consisted of employees of manufacturing companies in Tehran, from which a sample of 369 participants was selected using Cochran’s formula and multistage cluster sampling. Data were collected through standardized questionnaires measuring hybrid work models, work engagement, and employee performance. The validity of the instruments was confirmed through face, content, and construct validity, and their reliability was verified using Cronbach’s alpha and composite reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics and structural equation modeling. The results indicated that hybrid work models have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Hybrid work models also showed a significant positive effect on work engagement, and work engagement significantly improved employee performance. Moreover, the findings demonstrated that work engagement plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between hybrid work models and employee performance. The findings suggest that effective implementation of hybrid work models enhances employee performance both directly and indirectly by increasing work engagement.
