Abstract

This study aimed to identify the features and competencies required for the future job market, emphasizing the new mission of the Islamic Azad University in responding to technological, social, and occupational transformations. The research is applied in purpose, qualitative in nature, and based on thematic analysis. The statistical population comprised theoretical and practical experts in higher education and employability. Using purposive sampling, 19 participants were selected for semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed through open, axial, and selective coding using MAXQDA-V2018 software to extract major categories and subthemes related to future labor market features and competencies. Findings revealed that the future job market is characterized by three major dimensions: technological development (AI, automation, cybersecurity, and data mining), social changes (remote work, diversity and inclusion, social responsibility), and emerging market needs (sustainability, digital skills, soft skills, and lifelong learning). Four core competency domains were identified: technical (technological literacy and data analysis), intrapersonal (critical and creative thinking), interpersonal (communication and teamwork), and lifelong learning (adaptability and continuous development). The final model demonstrated internal and external validity supported by expert consensus. The results highlight that the Islamic Azad University must redefine its mission by integrating technological, interpersonal, and continuous learning skills into curricula to enhance graduate employability. Emphasizing synergy between theory and practice, updating curricula, and fostering adaptive learning capacities are essential to prepare graduates for the evolving dynamics of the future job market.
