The present study aimed to identify and explain the dimensions and components of universities’ readiness to create an academic entrepreneurship ecosystem and to develop a comprehensive framework for assessing the capacities required for universities’ transition toward entrepreneurial roles. This applied-developmental study employed a qualitative approach using the meta-synthesis method. The research process followed the seven-step model proposed by Sandelowski and Barroso (2007) and was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Relevant studies published between 2000 and 2025 were systematically identified, screened, and evaluated through searches in scientific databases. Ultimately, 52 studies were selected for final analysis, and their findings were extracted, coded, compared, and conceptually synthesized. The meta-synthesis results revealed that university readiness for establishing an academic entrepreneurship ecosystem is a multidimensional construct consisting of six main dimensions, 28 sub-components, and 187 initial indicators. The identified dimensions included cultural readiness, organizational readiness, managerial readiness, educational readiness, research readiness, and business readiness. The findings demonstrated that the development of an academic entrepreneurship ecosystem depends not merely on establishing entrepreneurial units or physical infrastructures but on the synergy among cultural values, organizational structures, leadership capabilities, educational capacities, research capabilities, and external business networks. University readiness for creating an academic entrepreneurship ecosystem should be understood as a multidimensional organizational capability shaped by interconnected cultural, organizational, managerial, educational, research, and business capacities. The proposed framework provides a foundation for evaluating universities’ readiness levels, identifying existing gaps, and prioritizing strategic actions for establishing and developing academic entrepreneurship ecosystems.
